Job Description Job Description Strategic Support Solutions is
seeking a high-precision Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic to support
government maintenance operations. This role is specifically
designed for technicians who excel in the "fine-motor" world of
thin-gauge aluminum and general aviation airframes. You will be
responsible for the mechanical stripping, corrosion mitigation, and
structural modification of panels and surfaces where maintaining
tight tolerances and aerodynamic profiles is critical. Key
Responsibilities Precision Fabrication: Perform modifications and
structural repairs on thin-skin aircraft panels and primary
structural components. Corrosion Mitigation: Expertly identify,
strip, and treat corrosion; prepare both metal and composite
surfaces using state-of-the-art materials and methods. Structural
Evaluation: Inspect and evaluate structural damage to determine
repair paths in accordance with manufacturer manuals and
engineering data. Assembly & Integration: Remove and install
panels, skins, and airframe components in preparation for surface
coating and final assembly. Technical Compliance: Read and strictly
follow blueprints, engineering drawings, and standard operating
procedures (SOPs). Reporting: Maintain meticulous records,
including log entries, work orders, and parts requests to meet FAA
and government oversight standards. Required Skills & Equipment
Tool Proficiency: Expert use of pneumatic drill motors, rivet guns,
punches, hand sanders, and high-speed grinders. Metrology: Skilled
in using protractors, calipers, height/depth gauges, and dial
indicators for precision fitment. Tool Control: Must possess a
personal tool kit. Note: All tools must be properly shadowed and
etched in accordance with the facility’s tool control policy.
Qualifications Experience: 3 years of continuous and recent
experience in aircraft sheet metal, with a specific emphasis on
thin metal and general aviation airframes. Certifications: FAA
Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license is preferred, but not
required for highly experienced specialists. Assessment: Candidates
must pass a practical sheet metal test (evaluating drilling,
riveting, and layout skills) upon employment. Clearance: Must be
able to pass an FBI criminal history records check and verify
employment for unescorted access to Security Identification Display
Areas (SIDA). Physical Requirements Ability to stand, squat, and
work with arms overhead for extended periods. Ability to pull,
push, and lift up to 50 lbs. Must be comfortable working in a
fast-paced government maintenance environment while maintaining a
professional attitude under tight timelines. Benefits &

Differential: An additional $5.00 per hour premium is paid for all
