Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS and BLS Must-Have: Stepdown experience Telemetry experience Description: The primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients. This includes cases such as open-heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. The unit also receives overflow medical cardiology patients with conditions such as heart failure, sepsis, and chest pain. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. Staffing includes approximately 100 team members. Day shift typically consists of 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, and 4 patient care technicians. Night shift typically consists of 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, and 4 patient care technicians. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for patient care technicians. Type of equipment used includes various IV pumps and EMR systems. The ideal candidate should be a team player, enjoy a fast-paced environment, and be flexible. Preferred candidates will have experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery populations. Typical procedures performed may include epidural management, chest tube management, and IV gluccomander. The unit requires a minimum commitment of 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks. No call is required. Candidates should be open to working holidays as necessary.
