License: ARRT(R) or NMTCB, ARRT(MR) or ARMRI Certifications: BLS
Must-Have: - Ability to examine requests and verify orders on each
patient. - Capacity to properly identify patients using two patient
identifiers and assist them while offering a brief explanation of
the procedures. - Skill to prepare patients for the procedure with
a full explanation and proper documentation. - Competence in
interviewing patients for a complete medical history and reviewing
pertinent clinical history in electronic medical records. -
Responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion of
dictated results. - Capability to prepare and administer IV
contrast according to departmental protocols. - Ability to evaluate
the technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if
needed. - Proficiency in performing basic patient care functions
and informing nursing personnel of any changes in the patient’s
condition. - Initiation of life support measures for patients when
necessary. - Execution of all invasive procedures in accordance
with safety and infection control policies. - Practice of radiation
safety principles for self, employees, patients, and family
members. - Maintenance of knowledge and skills to work safely in
environments with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and
infectious disease. - Adherence to hospital fire and safety
procedures. - Operation of the radiology computer system, including
entering orders and charging procedures. - Documentation of
contrast administration in the medical administration record. -
Assistance to other medical personnel as required during exams or
services involving MRI scans. - Maintenance of knowledge of MRI
safety requirements for both staff and patients while in and around
magnetic fields. Description: The MRI Technologist role includes
performing MRI scans on various types of patients. The incumbent
will examine requests and verify orders before performing exams.
Ensuring accurate identification of patients and explaining
procedures is essential. Interviews for medical history and review
of electronic medical records are required. The technologist will
prepare and administer IV contrast per protocols. An evaluation of
image quality and consultation with a Radiologist may be necessary.
Basic patient care and monitoring for changes in patient conditions
are crucial responsibilities. The position involves adherence to
strict safety and infection control protocols. Radiation safety
principles must be followed diligently. Knowledge of hospital
safety procedures and operation of the radiology computer system is
required. Support to other medical personnel during procedures is
expected. Ongoing knowledge concerning MRI safety for both staff
