** This position is a regular, full-time position that is temporarily a remote position. The position is to work with our southeast engineering group and be based out of the Spartanburg Office. ** Are you fascinated by the built environment? As an engineer, the projects you envision will get built! You will contribute to projects, lead analysis, develop concept designs and construction documents, work directly with our clients, represent Toole Design in project and stakeholder meetings, and reinforce our reputation as trusted experts. You will work alongside and support senior engineers by independently managing tasks inclusive of all stages of project development and client relations. You'll work with other engineers, landscape architects, and urban designers on our team to create sustainable transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from complex roadways and streetscapes in urban settings, to signature trail projects that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You'll also be a part of interdisciplinary teams and work with our planners and urban designers to deliver a variety of exciting project types focused on making places and travel experiences better for everyone, including local, regional, and state-wide active transportation plans, Vision Zero plans, and Safe Routes to School plans. Requirements You'll be great here if: You are passionate about design and how it informs the built environment. You enjoy collaborating across disciplines, between offices, and with communities You deliver high-quality work and design documents on time and on-budget and have a strong ownership of work. You have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and are highly organized. You know how to get the message across, whether written, verbally, or graphically. You're motivated to tackle new challenges and develop creative solutions. You'll need: A bachelor's or master's degree in civil or transportation engineering or a related field. 4-6 years of hands-on design and/or engineering experience. A Professional Engineering License, preferably in the state of South Carolina or ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months. An interest in streetscapes, urban plazas, greenways and trails, and multimodal transportation facilities issues and design. A desire to make a difference within the public realm of communities across the Southeast and North America. Experience independently managing small- to mid-size projects and mentoring younger staff. Experience developing construction documents and cost estimates. Excellent task and time management skills. Excellent communication and strong writing skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3d and a working knowledge of MicroStation (preference given to individuals with MicroStation experience). Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications. Specific knowledge of roadway geometric design or streetscape design. It would be a plus if you have: Experience in transportation engineering. A broad knowledge base in street design and urban multimodal planning. Proficiency in MicroStation; experience with Geopak and InRoads desired but not required Detailed design experience for intersection and corridor wide improvements, including, but not limited to, meeting minimum ADA and drainage requirements. Specific knowledge of horizontal and vertical roadway geometric design (MUTCD and AASHTO) Experience conducting public outreach and engagement. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and multi-phased projects. Experience with bicycle and pedestrian projects. Prior experience at a consulting firm, public entity, non-profit or higher learning institution. Experience in construction or construction oversight.
