Senior Manager, Health and Safety - Distribution Centers
Workplaces is responsible for the active management of the Global
Real Estate Portfolio including leases and transactions of all the
properties, all design, construction, and facilities maintenance
for offices, showrooms and DCs for adidas. This supports the
successful implementation of Creating the New by supporting revenue
growth, portfolio optimization and creating great workplaces to
attract and retain top talent across the globe. To ensure a
successful and sustainable Portfolio, Workplaces collaborates
within an extensive network of internal / external stakeholders and
industry experts to provide value added service.
The Senior Manager Health & Safety will be responsible for
partnering with the DC Operations teams in NAM (Indianapolis, IN,
Spartanburg, SC, Wilkes Barre, PA, and Brantford (Canada)) to
manage and enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance
with all applicable global, regional and local regulations. The
incumbent will develop and implement health and safety initiatives
and protocols in accordance with adidas values, to analyse,
evaluate, present and manage safety risk and provide confidence to
all interested parties that adidas are responsible and effectively
protecting brand value. A successful incumbent demonstrates the
ability to build the trust and confidence to inspire change through
providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data
Develop and implement written health and safety programs across all
NAM DC locations, ensuring safe working conditions for all
employees and compliance to global company policies and all laws
Implement the health and safety risk strategies incorporating:
Safety Standards, Policies, Environmental, Ergonomics, People Risk,
Governance, Crisis Management, Event Risk, Incident Investigation &
Management, and Risk Assessment.
Conduct risk assessments on the workplace organization, employee
behaviours, and DC standard operating procedures to minimize and
Act as DC representative for global H&S programs and
initiatives as well as federal, state and regional health and
Leading, managing, planning, coordinating, controlling and ensuring
the adidas Health & Safety standard through IMS Certification
Lead the implementation plan to close findings related the external
audit audits or authorities visits.
Maintain all records and documentation in compliance with local,
federal and ISO standards for all NAM DCs.
Captures, analyses, and reacts to safety metrics and reviews weekly
and monthly incident trends to discover patterns on areas where the
safety risk is highest.
Develop incident investigation/near-miss process and train
Operations staff on the procedure. Support Operations with root
cause analysis and review corrective actions to ensure proper
mitigation plans are being implemented.
Develop communication plan to effectively distribute health and
safety information including, but not limited to safety metrics,
incident and near misses, corrective actions, best practices,
safety notices, policy updates, etc. Communication plan should
include adidas Globally when appropriate.
Ensure adidas responsibility and obligations with regard to
occupational health and safety for the NAM DCs, in accordance with
applicable laws and guidelines. For a detailed description of
obligations and tasks, please refer to the IMS Policy Annex Health
and Safety and the Corporate Security Policies.
Develop all required training materials (i.e., new hire, annual
training, toolbox talks, etc.) related to health and safety.
Collaborates with Operations and Training departments to ensure all
employees receive the necessary training.
Identify and manage relationships with key stakeholders and build a
broader network map, incorporating relevant departments within
Workplaces and adidas in order to deliver and embed a positive
health and safety culture.
Inform operation of new and developing health and safety
Develop incident investigation process. Support Operations with
performing root cause analysis and corrective actions as a result
of injury and near misses. Trains Operations supervisors to conduct
Advising and supporting adidas employees on aspects of health and
safety based on the local regulations.
Ensures vendors, contractors and third-party employees are
compliant to Company H&S standards.
Drive and measure engagement reviews and quality assurance
procedures to ensure health and safety KPIs are achieved.
Accountable for ensuring appropriate H&S controls are
determined and a harmonised implementation approach adopted with
key stakeholders, other technical teams and internal business
units, to deliver appropriate safety services and measures.
Leverage lean principles and kaizens to lead continuous improvement
initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in processes
to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for all
Implementation of organizational, preventive and defence of
emergency response for employees.
Manage, coach, develop and train team members, input into
performance reviews, provide feedback and allocate work considering
complexity and experience level.
Introduce and ensure a leadership culture based on adidas
principles within the entire department and across all hierarchical

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Occupation Safety, Industrial Engineering,
Environmental Management or a related field
7-10 years of Health & Safety Experience
Expert knowledge about IMS of H&S standards (ISO 45001)
Extensive experience of Health & Safety programs and project
Ability to travel 25% of time
