Job Description:

The role of the Quality Supervisor is to provide leadership, supervision, direction and support to the Quality Department employees assigned to their shift.  This position is responsible for performing quality workflow by managing the materials and equipment to support production and meet quality goals in a safe work environment.


  • Effectively plans, organizes and directs the work to be performed through assigned employees.
  • Ensures effective employee relations. Provides coaching and development of their employees. Resolves employee issues and reviews and responds to their suggestions.
  • Ensures their employees receive timely and adequate training to perform their jobs.
  • Assesses employee performance and provides appropriate individual feedback in a timely manner.
  • Maintains an environment that supports and promotes the core values and culture of Contec, including support of Contec’s policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Assists in hiring additional staffing resources as directed by the Quality Manager
  • Ensures equipment and processes are safe and properly functioning. Follows escalation protocols to remove roadblocks.
  • Participates and works within ISO 9001quality standard guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.
  • Participates in process improvement activities, quality investigations, material review board, and in-process audits with both manufacturing and quality. Makes critical process and product decisions where appropriate.
  • Facilitates Engineering Trial Runs (ETRs) as appropriate.
  • Assists in the investigations for rejects, reworks, and non-conformances.  
  • Serves as a liaison between manufacturing and quality to support production needs
  • Facilitates communication between shifts
  • Reviews and updates procedures as needed
  • Provides emergency response leadership as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining time and attendance and approving PTO. Communicating with Senior Quality Supervisor regarding approved PTO. 

Managing Direct Reports:  Ability to coach, develop, manage, and provide performance feedback, positive and negative, to direct reports. Monitors workloads and appreciates extra effort.  Treats direct reports equitably. 

Ensures Accountability:  Holds self and others accountable to meet commitments, including timely completion of product testing for both manufacturing and other departments.  Acts with a clear sense of ownership.  Monitors workload of direct reports, including measuring results.  Takes responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures.

Instills Trust:  Follows through on commitments.  Maintains confidential information related to employees.  Acts with honesty and integrity, ensuring accurate reporting of data. 

Conflict Management: Able to read situations and handle conflict effectively. Can settle disputes fairly and finds common ground to get cooperation.

Directs Work: Provides clear direction and accountabilities. Delegates and distributes assignments and decisions appropriately.  Monitors progress of daily testing requirements and product release by maintain dialogue with direct reports and manufacturing associates regarding work and results. Intervenes as needed to remove obstacles.

Communicates Effectively:  Effective in a variety of communication settings, including one-on-one, small groups, and large groups, and among diverse styles and position levels. Adjusts to fit the audience and message.  Provides timely and helpful information to others.

Decision Making:  Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgement.  Makes decision in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure. Ability to make a quick decision when needed.

Problem Solving:  Asks the right questions to accurately analyze situations.  Uncovers root cause to difficult problems. Can make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems. 

 


Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) from four-year College or University; or two to four years related supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in ISO Quality Management Systems and auditing processes preferred; leading process improvements and knowledge of Six Sigma, cGMP, FDA a plus.
