Production Supervisor, Plastics (3rd Shift) Location: Spartanburg, SCOpportunityReporting to the General Supervisor, you will direct the work of assigned hourly employees in the Spartanburg Plastics manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for directing the work force in such a manner as to meet approved production and delivery schedules within a budgeted cost; for ensuring that the plant's employee relations policies and procedures are followed.ResponsibilitiesControl daily activity of employees assigned, working to continuously reduce variation in manufacturing processes and achieve designated targets for A-grading, scrap, recovery, and other indicators of effectiveness. Perform HR-x-HR gemba walks with process control specific activities, driven by layered audits and leadership standardized work. Audit the manufacturing process to ensure that key operations which affect Quality are being performed. Monitor process control elements / Key Process Indicators to ensure First Pass Yield. Conduct Root Cause / 5 Why 8D investigations when process is out of control. Coordinate with others to meet established objectives on warranty. Monitor employees' work, and conduct safety audits, to assure that safety results are maintained at an excellent level. Coach for improvement. Convey reward and recognition where appropriate. Develop programs which will keep productivity high, and coordinate with Industrial Engineering on method-changes which will enhance productivity. Provide input to the Manager - Plastics Operations and to the Process Engineer on possible changes which would facilitate a reduction in standard costs without adversely affecting quality. Evaluate employees and develop them to the highest level of their abilities. Take the steps necessary to ensure that equipment is properly maintained, and that new technology or tooling is effectively brought on-stream. Coordinate with others as necessary to achieve the on-time introduction of new products, with minimal learning curve losses and with conformance to manufacturing and quality specifications. Perform the usual supervisory functions of planning, controlling, recommending budgets, imposing discipline as necessary, and carrying out specified administrative duties. Ensure that all personnel are kept fully and currently informed on all pertinent company policies and that such policies are followed. Direct through associates the maintenance of good housekeeping, 5S, and assure that action is taken when required to keep the area in a neat and safe condition.Skills/RequirementsAssociates Degree with at least 5 years of Front-Line Leadership experience or 8+ years of Front-Line Leadership experience is required. Experience in a Plastics manufacturing operation is a plus.Experience in lean manufacturing including, but not limited to, 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and Kaizen is required. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor.
